Do you suffer from rosacea and have struggled to find a skincare regimen that suits your unique skin type? At Paula Cliffin Skin, I strive to offer a truly unrivalled and bespoke approach to rosacea skincare treatment in Raby Bay.
Rosacea (pronounced “roh-ZAY-sha”) is a chronic and potentially life-disruptive disorder characterised by flare-ups and remissions, primarily affecting the facial skin.
Many have observed that it typically begins any time after age 30 as redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead that may come and go. Redness is also an indicator of collagen loss, which leads to thin skin density and weakened support of the capillary network. In some cases, rosacea may also occur on the neck, chest, scalp or ears. Over time, the redness tends to become ruddier and more persistent, and visible blood vessels may appear. Left untreated, bumps and pimples often develop, and in severe cases, the nose may grow swollen and bumpy from excess tissue. This is the condition, called rhinophyma. In many rosacea patients, the eyes are also affected, feeling irritated and appearing watery or bloodshot.
Although rosacea can affect all segments of the population, individuals with fair skin who tend to flush or blush easily are believed to be at greatest risk. The disease is more frequently diagnosed in women, but more severe symptoms tend to be seen in men – perhaps because they often delay getting help until the disorder reaches advanced stages.
While there is currently no cure for rosacea, its symptoms can be managed quite effectively. Cellular health is very important to improving the condition. Dietary intake of essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 & 6 is also very beneficial.
The skin care products you use should be free of perfumes, preservatives, emulsifiers, mineral oils and silicones, as these substances have the ability to further aggravate a sensitive, inflamed skin condition such as rosacea. Fatty acids, ceramides and phytosterols in combination with saturated phosphatidylcholine and triglycerides, allow skin-identical physical structures and displays excellent tolerance properties. DMS base creams achieve this – hence dermaviduals is a perfect match for your skin.
We believe in the “do no harm” philosophy, always. A bespoke, customised approach to your treatment will be planned to meet your skin needs during your Clinical Skin Assessment. However, treatments could include:
